What is coaching?
Coaching is about helping you create change in your personal or professional life. It's an ongoing, powerful partnership designed to help you clarify and achieve what is most important to you. You may be feeling stuck and unable to even articulate your specific goals. Or you may have very specific goals that you are having difficulty achieving on your own. As a certified professional coach, Debra B. Taylor has the training, tools and resources to support you in identifying and reaching your goals.

How does coaching work?
If you feel that we are a good match after our initial consultation, we will discuss which program best meets your needs - for example, one-to-one coaching, group coaching, or a workshop - and, logistics (number of sessions, agenda, fees, and expectations).
You then will receive a welcome packet to get started. This packet is designed to assist you in beginning (or furthering) the process of articulating your goals for our work together - what you want to create in your life. Most clients find the exercises illuminating and also fun!
Creating change takes time. Our programs are interactive and include the practice and application of new attitudes, tools, skills and behaviors. All programs have exercises and homework assignments to deepen your learning and build momentum toward achieving your goals.

What is the difference between coaching and therapy?
Coaching is not counseling or therapy. Coaching is forward-looking, future-focused, and action-oriented. Therapy tends to be focused on healing emotional issues from the past which hamper an individual's current ability to function. Coaching focuses on learning, action, accountability and follow-through to achieve success and fulfillment.
Clients can work simultaneously with both a therapist and a coach. Many clients have been in therapy in the past, or currently are in therapy. It is painful and depressing to watch your teenager deal with a mental illness. Therapy can help.
Coaching can complement your therapeutic relationship by supporting you in setting and achieving goals for yourself.

How can I tell whether coaching is right for me?
Ask yourself if you are ready to make a commitment of time, energy and resources to create real change in your life. Coaching requires an out-of-pocket investment in your present and in your future.
What is it worth to you to have a life in the midst of all your caretaking? Are you ready to commit to making changes that will make you feel less stressed and more in control? What is the cost to you and your family of staying in this stuck place?
If you are open to new perspectives and ready to take baby steps toward creating a better future for you and your family, coaching will a valuable investment.
